ABOUT THE BOOK

"The Dreamiest of Hoops" is a collection of photographs documenting basketball hoops.

Each hoop was chosen for being quotidian or entirely ordinary; the vast majority of images were shot on the same camera with a 50mm lens and using available light. All of the images in this volume were shot in Scotland. There are few people in these images, further emphasising the sense of otherness I aim to portray. This is further reflected in the choice of stock, an uncoated paper lending the images a hazy, washed-out aesthetic.

Running through every image in this book is an appreciation that hunting "The Dreamiest of Hoops" is in itself a quixotic pursuit. It can - and perhaps should - never be found.
